next season motor rule...?
Can't we make this class more in lines with tamiya cup rules and prccc rules so that the drivers that do race at other events can use same motors.
So I was thinking to make it tamiya 14t and 13.5 anymake. What u guys think?
The tamiya 14t is so cool and 540j is boring.....

Yes, this is a good call. We have to align the rules especially with next years TC rounds, who know maybe TRCCC will host a round as well.
and with most TRCCC drivers having and still getting the Tamiya combo, it makes complete sense.

Re: next season motor rule...?
Need more info ??? What does the 14T Tamiya motor cost ?? What ESC does it use ?? Is it in Sports man mode ???
While I understand the reasoning , we need to take into account the guys who have already bought systems ?
There was all the talk about 13,5T being to fast ?? Fill us in a bit more ?? How does it compare to a silver can ?

What system are you going to use in fwd class at CC next year if you all conforming to TC rules, there is a bigger picture to bear in mind!

Use google and look up Team Wave RB0 13.5t...it's what I have to use against those blistering Tamiya 14t systems.

Re: next season motor rule...?
Ok, so last night we did some testing with our current track design. I was running my FF03 with tamiya 14t system(includes tamiya esc). Samjr was running his fwd sabre from top racing with the stock 17.5 system and our gearing was open. Both systems are close in terms of fastest laps (under a half second). I personally think we should make it 540:j for the guys starting out its affordable and competitive vs sport tuned which will be faster vs 17.5 stock which is competitive as we know vs tamiya 14t system.
Its just a suggestion and a discussion we having. We can do more testing with all motors on track at once......

Re: next season motor rule...?
Where's duck??
Last nite was totally awesome with the fwd's, I couldn't believe how much faster my car was just by going up 5 teeth!!!! I need grippier tyres now to handle the sweepers, I think ATS's have a limit and I reached that limit last nite. It was so cool chasing Nev lap after lap after lap, then I had a brain fart......... then he was chasing me trying to get past for a few laps, it was totally totally awesome!!!! Oh yes, thanks for the loan of the pinion Nev!! I just need to get that diesel sounding like a hybrid now!! And a little tightening of the diff and then who know's......Super touring Sunday championship here we come!!!!

Re: next season motor rule...?
Lunch Bar......O'vious!!!!
The 14t tamiya system is used for TC events, the 13.5t system is used in sarda events. Both systems are stock systems so should be similar in speed with the same rollout, this still has to be proven, but in theory it should be. The sabre chassis I bought was used for sarda events where they all use a 13.5t TW system in whatever chassis you run and the gearing and FDR's are all limited and chassis specific to keep the rollouts the same across the chassis spectrum. The gearing I was running after putting a hobbywing 17.5t system in was the same as used with the 13.5t system and my car wasn't anywhere near on pace with the 14t system, so Nev loaned me a bigger pinion which enabled me to be on pace with whatever gearing Nev had in his car.
I hope it makes sense now, cause I think I just confused myself with all this gibberish!!!
Only way to see it is on track, you coming on Sunday? We should be done by 1pm'ish.

Oh, and the only reason you would want to spend an extra R600 on a tamiya system is if you are going to run it in TC events or else it just doesn't justify the extra dosh???

Your HW setup was on stock settings ?? 0 advance settings ? So we could keep our existing 17,5T setups ?

Re: next season motor rule...?
I also think the biggest factor here as well, is out tight short track, although these systems may sound totally incompatible, I think once again the nature of TRCCC's tight racing brings these options closer together.
The Tamiya System is a plug and play system with very limited preset options, like 3 different modes for braking, I think. Otherwise it is what it is, very simple.
Think, come sunday, we will have even a better idea of these various options

Re: next season motor rule...?
Track isn't so tight anymore, you need those horses down the straight and through the back sweeper!!! You could clearly see who had the extra power in those sections on Tuesday nite. It's going to be interesting though!!
We all know Nev is super consistant with his lap times, and for a part timer like me to be .4 off his fastest lap tells you something!!

Pity you guys couldn't make the final with your FF's today, would've been awesome to have had a dice!! I'm sure once Abdul gets his FF sorted he's going to be a nightmare to beat for sure!!

And if you gear up a bit with a 17.5t you'll be running at the same pace if not faster.

Re: next season motor rule...?
I'm having trouble mounting the 17.5 justock syestem from hobbywing in the FF03. I even went to buy the hop up carbon part but motor still can't be mounted properly.
So I really hope 14t is allowed next year. Johson is kak boring.
If the rule u proposed works for all cars, then why not.
Maybe on tuesday night we can discuss rules for 2013 for FF1 and FF03classes?

Re: next season motor rule...?
Mayb for the next STS race next sunday we should try out ur rules u proposed. So we all choose our motor we want to use and follow the gearing u proposed...?
If it works then we can make it rules for next season.
