The "Tokai 1000" proposal Empty The "Tokai 1000" proposal

Post  driver 101 Mon 14 May - 15:45

Hi Guys,

There is something I have wanted to try for some time now. I want to run an Endurance race of a 1000 laps.

This is what I propose:

The Tokai 1000

Protea - Any Saturday - Race starts 2pm
First Team to 1000 laps wins
Teams are made up of 3 members
TTO1 chassis (only 1 car per team - car breaks and motor changes / tire changes all on one car shared)
Silver can
Rubber tires
Transponder swop overs so they dont go flat

This could also be a chance to see what happens to our timing program when we reach 1000 laps, something I have also wanted to see for some time.

What do you guys think?

Awesome!!!!! I can see us heading into a 24hr format one of these days similar to the world famous german 24hr!!! Twisted Evil Twisted Evil It's called progress!!!! king

The teams are going to have to be on the ball the whole time for this one, over 4hrs with 1 car, yoh!!!!!! cyclops cyclops
Lipo's are going to be tested to the limits, motors will go through a set of brushes for sure, never mind the tyres, on that grippy surface you'll be looking at at least 3-4 sets of tyres, GRP's here we come!!!!! WOW this is going to be awesome!!!!! bounce bounce

I think we won't have any hassles with the timing equipment or the program, there are many many clubs around the world that run long enduros waaay more than 1000 laps, and am sure a few of them are using the same setup as us with lapsfree and an amb decoder. But why stop at 1000??? Make it 1001 or 1010 laps, then you can see properly what happens with the program once it goes over 1000 laps, which is what you want to find out isn't it??

Vote me in!!!!!! cheers cheers cheers cheers

The winning team will cross the line on 1000 laps, however we must still go for a few more to see what happens....I just like the "Tokai 1000" theme.

This must also be a one car per team rule, I really want this to be a real life endurance event.

lol! lol! lol!

Ample is an understatement!!! I've been reading some of these links, and there is plenty to consider and prepare for!!!

Just had a thought, why don't we have a combined club enduro, max 10 teams, minimum 4 drivers(that's more drivers than CC had!!), 1 car per team, TT01's, 25/55 gearing, silvercans(max 2 to be used), teu101/104's, ats tyres(Ty's smiling now!!!!), each team marshals their own car(10 laps deducted for touching another teams car), previous driver to marshal next stint, no limit on bat changes, each team to have a driver roster/schedule for driver changes, compulsory 2x5min adhoc/random scrutineering stops for each team, at parow on short circuit, lemans style start!!!!! bounce bounce bounce bounce bounce bounce bounce bounce bounce bounce bounce

That all sounds good, but I want it to be a "Tokai" first and at Protea. I want this event to promote our club at Protea.

Parow guys are welcome to race with once we announce it, but it must be for our club at our club.

I will go wild with the Tokai 1000 theme. Making it the only club in CT thats willing to push the Enduro limits.

Idea is born Tokai and should be at Tokai

No Man....when do I ever get touchy.

I think you know where I am coming from though.

Dont worry about the track. If we do this we will prepare well in advance and we will make sure we cover all areas.

Dont worry about the ESC. No need to limit it to the standard BK range.

These are my proposed rules for the event:

CAR

Chassis: TTO1
Gearing: Max 25/55
Motor: Johnson Sliver can
Tires: Any Rubbers
Body: Any 1/10 body
Bats: Any battery

Race Rules:

The race will be a 1000 lap endurance event (+/- 4 hours). First team to cross the line completing 1000 laps will be the winning team.
Teams must consist of 3 drivers or more.
Only one (1) TTO1 shared as the race car.
Should any mechanical breakdown occur during the race, the team will have to repair their race car and return to race.
Transponders will have to be changed at predetermined times to avoid running flat.
At every battery / tire / repair change the driver will also change.

Date:

This event will be announced and advertised once a race date has been confirmed.

I suggest that this enduro take place on a Saturday afternoon, from about 1pm ish. Then we don't have to worry about lights etc, and we'll get spectators coming to watch, good for exposure!!! Very Happy

This sounds awesome guys ! I myself have taken part in a few 4 hour events and i can say it really tests your "metal" ! We also ran 1 car , 1 body , 10 cars on track . 4 drivers per team and each team's transponder was the same red and yellow transponder . On the race control software the teams were assinged to both . The laps being manually totaled up at transponder changes , thus keeping track of total still required . Teams were made up of , 1 dedicated pit mach , 1 responsiable for batts , 1 for tyres , 2 track marshals and 4 drivers . That time the largest batt available was a 3800mah , and with the right gearing we got about 20min - 30min. Also we ran TA03 chassis . The drivers each did an hour run. The various drivers obviosly prefer diff setups , we did set ups the previous weekend and then had the various upper arms and tyres etc preped for when the hourly driver change took place . Drivers had to use the same transmitter settings . The car , TA03 , at least had quick change upper links and steering etc . Not the easiest event to run , but awesome none the less ! Would love to take part !
