FFO3 as a handicap league idea ?
Ok...I have been thinking again.
Since we are losing the one make series. I have been brainstorming on the idea of making the FFO3 class something different, something with a twist, to make it really close and competitive.
What if we do a handicap system at every race.....just an idea?
On race night, after qualifying, we look at the times. The order is then reversed for the final, quali points still remain as is. However, we reverse the grid. We also look at the fastest lap times, maybe starting a driver a meter behind for every split second advantage in lap time.
So Nev does a 14.560
I do a 14.740
Arshad does a 15.500
Abdul does a 16.000
So the grid:
Abdul on pole
Arshad second, 1.5m behind on grid
Ty next, 1.3m behind Arshad
Nev, 0.200m behind me.
If a two drivers and really close....like we have had some nights, then they start side by side.
Ok....we can measure it out, or just a rough estimate, but I think the idea has a starting point. The cars could be spread out accordingly and it will be interesting for the faster guys to catch up, maybe.
I wonder if this could work, the main focus being to create the series competitive for all.

Re: FFO3 as a handicap league idea ?
We tried that a few months back and used tape to hold them in place, they still moved after a while and then just got in the way and sometimes onto the racing line. That isn't the only problem though....!!
There are tyres at the track, they just need to be cut and painted.
Who's got a decent jigsaw with metal blades?? We can tackle it on Thursday nite.....

@101 - I know, but I think another method will have to be employed.

What about ballast ?? They use it in full size ? Ist ,2nd and 3rd get x amount of weight added for the next round ? If you keep winning , you are going to weigh 6 tons !!!

Re: FFO3 as a handicap league idea ?
How much? Thats the question?
I know Nev and myself have had some hectic dices with a variety of classes. When going to weigh-in, we would be very different.

Re: FFO3 as a handicap league idea ?
I'll bring 2 scinder blocks for Ty and Nev to start off with!!!!
1st = 50g
2nd = 30g
3rd = 20g
Maybe more??? All depends on gearing too, if you're geared for torque and it's a tight track the weight will make absolutely no difference, but if it's a flowing long track and you're geared long you going to battle coming out of the corners, the others will fly past you. I think we really need to start sticking to one track design for all classes which is a mix of both tight and flowing and take it from there. That'll give you you're best indication as to the hadicap weights and if it'll work or not. We can also then "try" and work on a consistant setup for all our cars and that way improve our driving skill and times. The racing can only get closer by doing that.
