Thanks bud. It was nice to chase down for some laps.
If I look at the times of all drivers from race 3 compared to race 4, everyone improved in terms of fastest lap.
Awesome stuff!

Re: Race Results: Race 4: GT and Club Stock
Terribly disappointing night of racing for me. After the first GT heat I was sooooo happy. Then it all went pear shaped.
On a better note - my times are about 0.5s per lap faster after gearing down on my pinions.
So at least gearing seems better!!
Oh well....next time.

Re: Race Results: Race 4: GT and Club Stock
I've just done an exercise looking at P1,2,3 in both classes since race 1. Bar Neville winning, his consistency is solid which makes for a good result, and in doing so improving his fastest lap times as well. Looking at p2 & p3, not names, just the times posted, they have definately improved as well in both classes amongst different drivers, but the factor that hurts everybody and the reason Nev always seems to be so far ahead is consistency. Nevs consistency is anything from 0.45 to a bad 0.94, last nite in CS was his worst with a 1.26, but everybody else is running consistency factors between 1.02 and 2.02. If everybody could bring those numbers down, lap times will improve exponentially, and in doing so be able to real the lead in. The fastest laps by p2 and p3 are there or there abouts, so the result is definately possible, just the discipline is lacking in keeping it clean thus bringing consistency.
lolol, I sound like a ranting lunatic trying to preach to the converts. Anyway, I enjoyed the exercise, and I hope I shed some light for some.

Re: Race Results: Race 4: GT and Club Stock
Thanks SamJr!!!
That's awesome bud!!!
Yeah last nights finals I had a few bumpy bumpy encounters so had to drive my socks off to get the result
Consistency sucked tho
Next time. I too want and am going to work on getting that consistency lower. But each race situation is different.... So let's see.
I'm lank chuffed that all the guys are improving! It's good motivation for all!!
The vibe on the night was awesome!!!
Many thanks to all!!!!
Can't wait for the next event!!!

Thanks for this bud. I agree 100%. Consistency is key - last season an accident didn't cost you too much - this season you lose 2,3 or more places with just once accident.
My main problem is, I can be as consistent as I want but it doesn't help too much if I can consistently 0.9s per lap slower than Nev!!!
But yeah, consistency is the place to start and then get faster from there! Thks again!

Re: Race Results: Race 4: GT and Club Stock
Sorry for not adding my two cents earlier - only got a chance to get on to the forum now!
Consistency seems to be all the talk. I was consistently slow, but felt I drove respectably in my two qualifiers. In the main I was not able to continue that trend.
Both qualifiers I had a fastest lap of 18.19 and a 18.17 with an average lap of 19.102 - this I am rather happy with and the fact that I managed 19 laps in an under geared chassis, which was evident by Kevin rear ending me at the end of the straight.
My performance in the A main was rather poor, with the dew causing me to lose some grip and one or two silly mistakes when letting the faster drivers through.
Bottom line; I HAD SO MUCH FUN... FINALLY! R/C ROCKS, SO DOES TRCCC AND ALL ITS MEMBERS!
Thank you to everyone that made this past Thursday evening a possibility. I look forward to the up coming events!
Have an epic weekend!

Re: Race Results: Race 4: GT and Club Stock
There was nothing wrong with your driving at all. Consistency was good. Especially good if you say the car was a little under geared.
One little bit of advice.....I noticed that you were braking going into the first turn at the end of the straight - try to rather tap off turn in - as opposed to braking. Will save you time.
The guys all say - the only time you should be braking is to avoid an accident.
But at the end of the day....do what makes you most comfortable!

Re: Race Results: Race 4: GT and Club Stock
Carrying corner speed is key in the "slower" classes, if anything, and if your lines are smooth rather than a point and shoot style, you should only be tapping off for tighter corners, and feather the throttle on longer corners. That will shave a lot off your lap times. Oh, the other times you should use a marginal amount of brakes is when your car is understeering horribly to get the car to turn in.

Re: Race Results: Race 4: GT and Club Stock
Thanks for the replies and tips on driving more consistently. When I am racing I do focus on being smooth, having good flowing lines and not just hitting the gas from corner to corner. It could be possible that my TC4 is a bit pushy (under steering), but it makes it easy to drive. I'll get in some more practice this coming weekend as there is no racing on Thursday and work on setup.
In the meantime I have ordered some more spurs and a pinion for my chassis, which will take about two weeks to arrive.
I heard that not using brakes is something I should consider. I'll work on it next time I practice and not try it for the first time during a qualifier or during a main.
Just had a really good time despite coming last in the A main in Club Stock.
Thanks a lot for the advice and tips - as I am still learning how to drive an R/C car, but always looking to improve.
